Maureen Denise McCormick - the youngest of Richard McCormick's sons - was born at Woodland Hills, California in the year 1956. She was raised by a mother who was a housewife and a father who was a teacher. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her brothers older than her. McCormick began singing and dancing from a young age, and would often perform plays with puppets for the children from her neighborhood. After winning her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest at the age of 6 an old Pat Domigan called from Jack Wormser Agency to see if McCormick wanted to get into the entertainment industry. McCormick's first job as a professional was in 1964 where she was featured in a commercial on TV for Mattels baby doll, Baby Pattaburp. That same year, she was featured in a second commercial on television for Chatty Cathy's doll. After that, she was commissioned by La Jolla Playhouse to play the character of the character It up before It breaks. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children to play the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The sitcom featured Florence Henderson and Robert Reed newlyweds, who shared a blended-family. The show ran for five seasons. McCormick's book Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in 2008. In it she revealed the fact that McCormick nearly lost her virginity on stage of the show during the fifth season when it was played by Barry Williams. The time was when she was 16, and he was 19.
